By using shogi.plyyard.com, you accept the boundaries described here. If you disagree, stop using the site. These terms cover AI play, local two-player games, online rooms, the Rules Guide, and Practical Tips, including what you may do, when an online move takes effect, and what the service cannot promise.
What the site provides - and what it does not
This site provides a free browser-based 9×9 shogi board for personal practice, teaching on one device, and arranged online games. AI mode includes hints, undo, and replay; online rooms synchronise legal moves to the same position.
The site does not provide official ratings, tournament rulings, professional instruction, or rank certification. It is provided as is; interfaces, AI search strength, and room features may change, and uninterrupted or error-free operation cannot be guaranteed on every device, browser, or network.
Normal use is welcome; disrupting other players is not
- You may: play, teach, and review games for personal, noncommercial purposes, and quote a small amount of content with clear attribution.
- You may not: impersonate another seat, harass visitors, create rooms abusively, interfere with games, probe the service, or attack it.
- You may not: bypass room permissions or use scripts to create rooms in bulk, occupy connections, or send repeated invalid requests.
- Stop exploiting a defect: if the board and rules disagree, end the action and report it instead of using it against another player or the service.
- Share only material you have the right to share, including text, screenshots, and email attachments.
The game rules used here
The site uses the public rules of 9×9 standard shogi: sente moves first, captured pieces enter the hand and may be dropped, the far three ranks allow promotion, and nifu and uchifuzume ban certain pawn drops. The product name does not use another company's boxed-game trademark. See the Shogi Rules for the full explanation.
When a move counts in each mode
- AI and local two-player: play continues when the local board accepts a move. Hints, undo, and replay are practice tools, not an official game record.
- Online rooms: only a legal move validated and synchronised by the server enters both boards. There is no one-sided undo or hint; draws require agreement, and resignation ends the game.
- Disconnection and reconnection: locally stored seat information can attempt to restore a room, but network conditions, expiry, or cleared browser data may prevent it.
- Rooms and matching: there is no rating ladder or automatic matching with strangers. Public rooms may be joined or watched; private rooms depend on careful link sharing.
AI and instructional content cannot guarantee a result
AI moves and hints come from time-limited browser search. Higher levels generally search deeper but can still miss a line and do not correspond to real-world ranks. The Rules Guide explains the implementation, while Practical Tips offers methods to practise; neither guarantees a win or replaces calculation in a specific position.
Intellectual property
The design, written content, brand marks, and site-specific interactions belong to Ply Yard or the relevant rights holders. Without permission, you may not copy, mirror, or scrape them in bulk for a duplicate network or misleading purpose.
Interruptions, lost data, and limits of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Ply Yard is not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from use of the site or inability to use it, including lost game data, device performance, network interruptions, closed rooms, or misunderstandings caused by an AI move.
You accept the communication and privacy risks of inviting someone through a shared link. Do not publish a room link if you do not want others to enter.
Games, replays, and rooms are not permanent archives. Make your own record of an important position instead of relying only on browser storage or a temporary room.
Abuse controls and service changes
To protect visitors and service stability, we may limit connections, close rooms, or block obvious automated abuse. Material changes to features, data handling, or these boundaries will be posted on this page.
Privacy and other policies
The Privacy Policy explains local game data, room synchronisation, and browser storage. Using the site also means you acknowledge that policy.
